Case Study — 01 / Overview

A fully custom Laravel commerce platform for gifting, at scale

happySTEMS is a B2C e-commerce platform that enables customers to send flowers, cakes, plants, gifts, and curated combinations to their loved ones across India and internationally. The platform supports a wide range of products, occasions, categories, locations, and delivery requirements.

The primary objective was to centralize the entire e-commerce operation into a single, flexible platform that could support both the customer shopping experience and the business's day-to-day operations.

Instead of relying on a standard e-commerce framework, we developed the entire platform using Laravel, allowing the storefront, product structure, checkout journey, location functionality, payment flow, and administration system to be customized around happySTEMS' specific requirements.

Five problems a standard e-commerce build couldn't solve

01

Creating a Unique Shopping Experience

happySTEMS offers a diverse range of flowers, cakes, plants, gifts, and combinations, with products organized around different occasions, recipients, flower types, colours, price ranges, and categories.

The challenge was to create a shopping experience that made this large catalogue easy to explore while allowing the interface to be customized according to the business requirements.

02

Managing Location-Based Delivery

Location is an important part of the flower and gifting experience. Customers need to specify where their gift should be delivered and select an appropriate delivery date.

The platform therefore required location-aware functionality, including pincode/location selection and delivery-date handling.

03

Supporting Product Customization

Certain products require additional options before purchase. For example, customers can select upgrades such as additional flowers or a vase on applicable products.

The platform needed flexible product logic that could accommodate these business-specific combinations without being restricted by a predefined e-commerce structure.

04

Centralizing Business Operations

Managing products, categories, orders, and customers across a growing e-commerce operation requires a centralized administrative system.

The business needed a dedicated platform where these core operations could be managed efficiently from a single location.

05

Building Beyond a Standard E-Commerce Structure

The business required greater control over its storefront, product logic, checkout experience, and administrative workflows than a standard off-the-shelf e-commerce solution could provide.

The challenge was to create a platform that could adapt to the business instead of forcing the business to adapt to a predefined platform structure.

A custom-built journey, from first browse to fulfilled order

We developed the entire happySTEMS e-commerce platform using Laravel, creating a custom architecture around the business's customer journey and operational requirements.

01

Custom B2C Storefront

The frontend was designed specifically for a gifting and flower-delivery business, allowing customers to browse through multiple discovery paths.

02

Location & Delivery Integration

Google Location / Places API integration supports location-based functionality within the shopping journey. Customers select or enter a delivery location and pincode, with product pages supporting delivery-date selection.

03

Flexible Product Configuration

The custom architecture allows products to support additional options and combinations — such as extra flowers or a vase — letting customers personalize a purchase before adding it to the cart.

04

Customized Cart & Checkout

A customized cart and checkout experience accommodates the gifting business's specific requirements — customer information, delivery details, product selections, and payment processing through an integrated flow, including PayPal.

05

Centralized Admin Dashboard

A dedicated Laravel Admin Dashboard centralizes core business operations — one platform instead of multiple disconnected systems.
